Kind
Cosmic

Also called Cosmos’ Rosette or Changing Lands, the Cosmic Cage is the place created by The Miristea during the Cosmic Confinement to separate what is from what could be.

Exploration

The geography of the Cosmic Cage is changing, the unruliness of the First Songs still permeates this part of the cosmos. This makes it so the Cage neves retains for long the same shape and form. Many have spent years to catalogue the weird lands and phenomenons that can be found here, and all agree on one thing: the Cosmic Cage is not a place one can survive unprepared.

Cosmic Guides

A cosmic guide is someone trained to enter and explore the Cosmic Cage. Individuals skilled in Cosmic Exploration are present in every culture, and most of the knowledge on how to traverse the Changing Lands has been acquired by vastly different means in different parts of the World. Only recently all this knowledge has started to coagulate in a grand theory of the inner workings of the Cage.

Sciamans and Cosmic Guides of Old

In times of old — and still today, even if only in less and smaller regions — those who were able to enter the Cosmic Cage were often referred as Shamans or with similar terms. This individuals were often guides and nobles, sages and leaders of their respective communities.

Phenomenons

Many peculiar phenomenons occur in the Cage, some of them almost unknown.

Mercurial Storms

In all the Changing Lands is possible to find a particular storm known as mercurial storm, characterized, as the name suggests, by rains of mercury that can be extremely toxic for those who do not find shelter soon enough. The lightning that strikes during these storms are extremely dangerous, because they create high voltage arcs between the metallic raindrops.

At the end of one of these storms the land is left grey and shining. And Slugrens can be seen crawl on the surface to feed on the fallen mercury.

Rainspheres

The rainsphere is a metereologial phenomenon caused by Mercurial Storms that hit Geometric Meadows during the spheric phase. A rainsphere appears like a rainbow that covers the whole sky with colourful vortices.

Biomes

Even though the Cage chages shape and appreance continuously, scholars have been able to classify some kind of biomes.

Extended Oceans

This biome presents itself like an immense column of water — or of other liquids like oil, alchool or milk — that extends itself for tens of kilometers both up and down. Inside these oceans there is no gravity and therefore the pressure of the water is not felt.

Inside the liquid are found gigantic rocks almost perfectly spheric on which grow multicolores algae.

Some scholars have theorized that the movement of these oceans is what causes the trasformation of the rest of the Cage.

Geometric Meadows

The name of this biome is due to their curious characteristic of modifiying the way those who are inside it perceive the geometry of what is around them. There are three know phases in wich a Geometric Meadow can be.

  • Spheric Phase. During this phase who is in the meadow has the impression of being on top of a sphere of small radius. If a Mercurial Storm hits the meadow while in this phase, it can cause a Rainsphere.
  • Hyperbolic Phase. During this phase who is in the meadow has the impression of being on top of a hyperbbole. While in this phase is extremely easy to lose orientation and become nauseated.
  • Linear Phase. During this phase who is in the meadow has the impression of being on top o an infinite plane.
